Our philosophy
Through the presence of artists, healthcare settings become cultural venues and can be an opportunity for privileged encounters with artistic creation.
Those shared moments with the patient, his or her family, the care staff and the musician are open windows onto the outside world, creating new expression and communication opportunities during a hospitalization.
When they open their doors to musicians, hospitals are not synonymous with silence anymore.
To bring live music to hospitals, Musique & Santé sets up projects based on partnership, professionalism, and shared pleasure.
Professional musicians
Musicians are trained to musical and pedagogical techniques and are specifically trained to work in healthcare environments.
They have the relational qualities and improvisation practices necessary to health environments. They work in close interaction with patients, families, and care staff.
Close collaboration with medical and care staff
Our projects are set up in partnership with medical and care staff. Musical workshops are integrated in the units' projects and the musician is accompanied by a referent member of staff.
Regularity of musical interventions
Musicians work in a ward ona regular basis. The musical intervention takes place in groups or at the patient’s bedside according to their pathologies.
Artistic residencies
Renowned composers and musicians are hosted for one-week residencies and meet a new audience in new spaces. These moments are emotionally rich and favour artistic creation.
All audiences
Musique & Santé started with musical actions in paediatrics. We have now opened our projects to all ages: from neonatology to geriatrics, through adult intensive care.
